Urmila Matondkar, who is best known for her
performance in several 90s blockbusters like Rangeela, Kaun and Mast, has tied
the knot with businessman-model Mir Mohsin Akhtar. The actor's marriage comes
close on the heels of that of another 90s' heroine - Preity Zinta. Zinta walked
down the aisle with Gene Goodenough on February 28 this year.
Urmila's marriage was a low-key affair, with only
friends and family in attendance. Her husband, Mir Mohsin Akhtar, is a businessman
and model, who hails from Kashmir. The actor's marriage ceremony took place in
Mumbai on Thursday (March 3) afternoon, a report in Hindustan Times said.
The Tribune has quoted Urmila as saying, "We
kept it an exclusive wedding with just family and friends at the celebration,
since our families wanted the wedding to be a low-key affair. We mutually
decided to keep it private. We seek your blessings as we embark on this new
journey."
Urmila and Mohsin are said to have met during
designer Manish Malhotra's niece's wedding back in 2014. The two then began
dating and have now tied the knot. Mohsin is reportedly 10 years younger to
Urmila. He has done several modelling assignments in the past, and now deals in
Kashmiri-embroidery business.
The 42-year-old actor ruled Bollywood back in the
90s. With films like Satya, Rangeela, Ek Hasina Thi and several other
box-office hits to her credit, Urmila made a name for herself in the Hindi film
industry. The actor has been missing from the silver screen for several years
now. Matondkar made her debut in Marathi films with the 2014 movie Ajoba.
